This headpiece was created for the character Titania from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. I was inspired by the Milliner Stephen Jones for this piece. I created ivy leaves using different forms of embroidery techniques such as reverse applique, applique, wire mesh with added embroidery and batik wax resist. I incorporated quotes from the play and images that were relevant to Titania's characterisation. I then created flowers using embroidery on the metal mesh and mushrooms using applique.
